Told you "Sew"

I told you I was going to start sewing, so here I GO!

My green sheets came today, and so after the kids were tucked away, I started my first sewing project. That was over 3 hours ago! I hope I pick up speed, but here is what I accomplished! I took this picture in the dark while Allie was sleeping and it's totally a crooked picture, but I'm too tired to retake the picture. It looks like the whole rod is crooked, but it's not!!! Also that is only one panel I've made, but I spread it out. It'll be all scrunched up because I have to make the panel for the other side! I probably should have used half that material, but OH WELL!!!

What if I pulled it over to one side? Flower or no flower? Flower in the middle? Another panel with both sides pulled back? It's such a small window....

Hop on Over

Happy Birthday Blog! I started blogging a year ago today....162 posts to be exact. That is not too shabby...probably a good indicator of what I HAVE been doing rather than what I SHOULD HAVE been doing with my time!

Today I hit the road to go see Mandy, Katie, Bunny, and our two little cousins Zach and Abby who are Garrett's age. We haven't seen the cousins since Christmas, and they have ALL changed! Abby (18mo) has got her hands full with these two. She kept her distance, and I don't blame her! Zach (16 mo) throws everything he touches! They were so funny to watch.

We met at the mall, and had the kids' pictures made. Those are real bunnies! No problem, Zach just grabbed them by the neck and moved them over when he had the chance. They didn't even flinch. I told you Abby wouldn't have anything to do with these two...she said no thank you to the group pic. It took a little while to do the individual pics and by the time we were ready for the three of them, she was ready for something different than another camera!

Trying to get them to all be still for a pic together was almost impossible.

What a fun day! Garrett is so lucky to have cousins on both sides that are his age!

Boys will be boys

Usually as of late, G is the one getting into everything. I guess he comes by it honestly. Not many folks see this side of the Hubs, but he's been known to instigate a practical joke or two now and then. He ALSO came by it honestly as I have learned from being in the White family. (Bo do you remember a certain black curly wig, or Bunny how about rubber spiders sprinkled all over your counter top on Christmas morning...this list could go on and on!) So, Allie had little M over to spend the night while on spring break, and when the two wanted to play outside, I searched high and low for her shoes....so I thought. I didn't think to look....UP THERE!

Oh well, just one more thing to take care of on a Saturday morning.
I took Mary and G to the park this morning, and look who was there. This sweet little friend, J was born about 3 weeks before Garrett. Aren't they cute?!

Hey girl, nice pa pa!

Hey mom she's cute. How bout putting on both of my shoes next time.

Girl, I'm glad I don't have to deal with those things in my hair. I'd rather just dig.

Is that my sweet Mary POSING????????? Holy smokes! Love IT!

B is for bubble boy

Tonight, Allie filled up the tub with bubbles, and I ran to get my camera, and when I came back in, Garrett had crawled over to the tub. He was a sitting duck of course, and when he turned around he was covered in bubbles!

I dug down way deep into that small little part of me labeled "craftiness" today, and came up with this! I'm finally getting around to decorating the girls' room. I was inspired by Beth Ann last weekend, and I am going to be a "sewing machine!" I'm making bed spreads for their beds...so check with me later this year to see what I come up with. I am using black and white polka dots with green accents. Bunny gave Allie a cork board with her name on it a few years ago, and I wanted to do something to make it match the new room. I flipped it over and modge podged (sp) scrap booking paper onto the board and this is the result!

Sew Fun!

It's spring break!!! I took off Friday afternoon with three kids in tow to see Beth Ann for a long weekend. I almost chickened out due to a drenching rain(flying solo), but I turned the weather channel off, and headed north! Allie and Mary were so excited to see Laynie and Jones again. I'm so thankful for life long friendships....we go way back, and it's such a treat to see our kids enjoy each other now. On Saturday Leigh Ann (who I also grew up with) came over for a visit. I enjoyed seeing her precious kiddos, and the kids had a blast running around the house swinging swords and jumping over Garrett when necessary.

Mary was especially excited to have her picture taken..again.

I learned to SEW!!!!! Ok, so I'm in the very amateur stages. Mom gave me a sewing machine for Christmas because I've been thinking for a while it would be a handy thing to have. Beth Ann spent most of our spare time (which there wasn't much of) giving me a crash course in sewing 101 . I'm going to give it a whirl this week...it would be way more productive than blogging I'm sure!

Ten Months!

Garrett turns ten months tomorrow, but I'm going to be on the road!!! I took these pics behind our house a few days ago while it was still warm and sunny. Garrett is definitely making things interesting around here. He helps me clean the toilet, (found him chewing on the toilet brush..BLAHHHHH), feed the dog (places the dog food in the water bowl for Hannibal), unload the dishwasher, and other various "helpful" chores. Anything he chooses to do is LOUD...and the louder the better. He is an accomplished drummer already too! How did I forget this stage already??? Oh wait, Mary didn't go through this stage..of course! He's cruising around furniture, but not standing on his own yet. He's perfectly happy crawling and scooting all over the house. Mary says "chase me little bro!" She won't be saying that for long.

Dress up

UGGGHhh!!!!!!!!!!! My computer is driving me CRAZY!!! It's been acting weird for days now. I just lost one of my favorite pictures from today because when I edit any photos, it turns it to an "invalid image."! So for now, I don't have any pics to upload from Mary's program today.

This past weekend, Allie's little pal Emma Cate invited her to go to a Tea Party hosted by the Longview Ballet. The ballet is performing Cinderella at the end of the month, and Emma Cate will be part of the cast. She asked Allie to come along and meet the older dancers who autographed a shoe for each of the girls. Allie loved dressing up for it more than anything else!

Mary had a dress up "gig" this morning as well! It was Western Days at her school today, and the kids sang their howdy dudey songs while we ate barbeque. The hubs coult not attend, but I picked up Allie from school early to go support Mary. Mary said, "Allie be so proud of me singing!"

Wacky Wednesday

I guess it is the "kindergarten" thing to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. Today was "Wacky Wednesday" (termed after one of his books), and the kids were encouraged to dress "wacky". I forgot to take a picture of Allie's wardrobe...she picked it all out...a khaki skirt, blue jeans underneath, one rolled up above knee with a neon star knee sock underneath and her snow boots. Notice most of the kids shirts are turned around backwords.

"Spoon on a balloon" Allie loves her sweet teacher.

Meanwhile at home we were having a "wacky" wednesday as well. Wacking hair off that is...don't panic. I took Mary to get her hair trimmed...she's got a short little spring do now, and my friend who cuts our hair said, I'll trim the back of Garrett's if you want. I was thinking..huh....we've not had hair cuts before 2 with the girls...he's too young!!! He is a boy of course, but he does have WAY more hair than the other two did. You really can't tell he got it cut, but I needed to document. I took my camera, but the sweet older lady who said she'd take our picture (I was holding him) said she took 2 pictures, but they are no where on my camera!

"Dave" and Goliath

Last night was a rough night. As has been common this season, due to being very outnumbered by viral carrying vectors in this house, I was the recipient of the latest cold. When the hubs gets a cold, he just blows right through it. Not me...I received the asthma genes from the old man whose coughing still drives the old lady crazy! I, like my dad, tend to get the dry cough that is the worst at night. Last night was the third night in a row of the non stop cough! So upon Allie waking up barking coupled with my lack of sleep, I made an executive decision to stay home from church. Hubs was not available to go, and I did not have the drive to get the 3 little ones there in my delirious state. SO.....Allie decided we should have "home church" as she called it. She provided the congregation, music, and the "teaching", and I filmed the story as I could tell she was very excited to be taking on the teacher role. It may seem long and wordy (not sure where she gets it from), but I enjoy listening to her tell a story minus the nose picking and hacking of course. She chose to tell the story of David (whom she termed Dave) and Goliath. I had to trim and edit Mary out (she kept interrupting) so that it would be short enough to upload. Here are some pics as well.

Good grief will you look at that boy. He looks huge sitting there with Mary!
